Head Coach: Don Robson Mobile: (610) 864-7503 Email: don@robsonind.com What's happening? See Up to Date information at the Track Team Website http://sspjtrack.wordpress.com Regular Program: Open to boys and girls grades 4 thru 8. Must attend SS. Philip and James School or be a member of SS. Philip and James Parish. Boys and girls are divided into 3 age groups: Novice: born in 1999 or 2000 Minor: born in 1997 or 1998 Cadet: born in 1995 or 1996, or on or after Sept. 1, 1994
Sub-Novice program: Open to boys and girls in kindergarten thru 3rd grade. This is a fun program designed to give the little ones positive exposure to sports and Track & Field in a safe and fun-filled environment. Practices: Will typically be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:15 – 6:30 PM and on Saturdays from 9:00 – 10:15 AM. Saturday practices for subnovices are optional. Practices are held at the Downingtown East High School track. We have been instructed by Downingtown that children must be dropped off/picked up behind the school and not in the cul-de-sac below the track. There are a significant number of these dates where the track is unavailable and we are working on other arrangements. We may need to use other facilities and other days of the week for the conflicts. We will keep you posted, so please check your email often. Practices are held rain or shine, but will be cancelled for heavy rain, snow, thunder or lightning. Make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather. All runners should wear full sweats to every practice. In addition, a light jacket, hat, and gloves should be worn on colder days. Running shoes, not basketball sneakers should be worn. Spikes no longer than ¼” will be allowed during meets if the facility we are racing at allows them.
Development Meets: We will have four development meets on Sundays, starting at 1:00 PM and lasting about 3 hours. The coaches will decide what events each child will participate in and children will be notified on the Thursday practice prior to the meet. Each child will participate in 2 or more events, so plan on being there the entire time. If your child can’t attend, or needs to leave early or arrive late, please call Don Robson at (610) 864-7503. The Development Meets are scheduled for Sundays, March 28, April 11, April 18, and April 25.
Penn Relays : Each year, 10 boys and 10 girls will be chosen, based on time trials, to represent SS. Philip and James in a special CYO 4×100M Relay race at the Penn Relays on April 20. Championship Meets: This year’s championship schedule is as follows: Region 17 Championship - Sunday, May 9 Area E Championship - Sunday, May 23 Archdiocesan Championship - Saturday, June 5. The top six individuals in each event and the top 4 relay teams qualify to move on from the Regional Meet to the Area Championship. The same format is used to qualify to qualify for the Archdiocesan Championship. Updated Practice Schedule: http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=robsonind@gmail.com&ctz=America/New_York
